EMFTS Approves Recommended List of Equipment for Ambulances

The State Board of Emergency Medical, Fire, and Transportation Services (EMFTS) approved a recommended list of equipment for ambulances in the state of Ohio. In accordance with Ohio Revised Code Section 4765.09, we are notifying you of the EMFTS Board’s recommendation. The recommended equipment list, titled “Equipment for Ground Ambulances”, can be accessed via the following link: http://www.tandfonline.com/doi/full/10.3109/10903127.2013.851312 and is also available through the Division of Emergency Medical Services (EMS) webpage at: http://ems.ohio.gov/rec-equip-list.stm.

The EMFTS Board and the Ohio Department of Public Safety, Division of Emergency Medical Services encourage you to discuss this recommended list with your EMS agency’s leadership (fire chief, EMS coordinator, ambulance company owner, etc.) and medical director to address any concerns about costs, training, and logistics. EMS agencies meeting the eligibility requirements established in Ohio Administrative Code 4765-5-02 (http://codes.ohio.gov/oac/4765-5-02) may apply for grant money to assist in purchasing patient care equipment. Please note that this list is a recommendation and does not supersede any legal requirements under Chapter 4766 of the Ohio Revised Code for agencies required to follow this section of law.
