2016 Ohio EM Residents' Assembly Draws Record Attendance

On August 11, 2016 nearly 200 residents, medical students, and leaders from Ohio ACEP, National ACEP, and EMRA gathered for the Ohio Emergency Medicine Residents’ Assembly in Columbus. 16 of Ohio’s 19 emergency medicine residency programs were in attendance for Ohio ACEP’s signature event supporting EM residents.

After Ohio ACEP President, Dr. Michael McCrea welcomed attendees, Eileen Baker, MD, FACEP led the day’s first session, “Life After Residency: Practice Options Panel”. Because many new EM attendings change positions within the first two years of their career, the panel explored the pros and cons of different EM work environments to help residents decide which environment might best suit their personal and professional goals. Residents gained important insights from:

In the afternoon, FOAMed champion, EM:RAP host, and EM podcaster extraordinaire, Dr. Anand “Swami” Swaminathan gave two great presentations on ACLS and Urban Legends in Emergency Medicine and was then joined by Dr. Michael Weinstock for a lively Q&A session.
