PROPOSED BYLAWS CHANGE

In accordance with the Chapter Bylaws, Article XII - Amendments to the Bylaws, the Ohio Chapter, American College of Emergency Physicians, Board of Directors has recommended the following changes to the Chapter Bylaws pending acceptance by two-thirds vote of the members present at the Annual Meeting of the Chapter.

The changes include (Article VI) changing national college directors or Council officers to ex-officio instead of voting members of the chapter board; the addition of a Nominations Committee; and a technical amendment requested in Article XII by the college.

The full text of the proposed changes is available to view - 2012 Bylaws Changes. To access the full bylaws click here

At the June 5, 2012 Annual Meeting, the bylaws changes will be voted on by the chapter membership.

PROPOSED CHANGE IN DUES for LIFE MEMBERS

In accordance with the Chapter Bylaws, Article IV - Dues and Assessments §1, dues for the Chapter may be changed only by majority vote of the Chapter members present at the Annual Meeting of the Chapter. Dues may not be changed unless a proposed change in dues is announced 30 days prior to the Annual Meeting, although the change in dues actually approved by the members may be less than, but not more than, that which was proposed and announced.

The Board of Directors recommends a change in dues for Life members. Life members currently pay dues of $15.00 while Life Inactive and Life Retired are charged dues of $350.00. This dues structure has been in place since 2001. As defined by the College bylaws, Life members include Any person who has: 1) held active, inactive, or international membership in the College for a minimum of 15 years and who has attained the age of 60; or 2) held active, inactive, or international membership in the College for a minimum of 10 years and who has attained the age of 70; or 3) held active, inactive, or international membership in the College for a minimum of 20 years and who is retired from medical practice; or 4) become permanently disabled, may on application to and approval by the Board of Directors be classified as a life member.

The Board of Directors recommends for chapter membership vote, that Life members ($15) be raised to $100 annual dues and Life Inactive and Life Retired ($350) be reduced to $100 annual dues. Current Life members dues would be raised to $100 with the option of a year one transition of $50 and year two $100.

At the June 5, 2012 Annual Meeting, the dues changes will be voted on by the chapter membership.
