Ohio Trauma Systems Update

Please note these important changes within Ohio’s trauma system


Due to recent increased activity with a number of facilities and trauma center status designations, the Ohio Department of Public Safety has provided this update.  Please note the following important changes within Ohio’s trauma system:

  • Mercy Health – Lorain (formerly Mercy Health Regional Medical Center) achieved provisional status as a Level III Trauma Center as of 7/1/2019.

  • Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center East Hospital is fully operational as a designated Level III Trauma Center as of 11/1/2019.

  • Dayton Children’s Hospital is fully operational as a designated Level I Pediatric Trauma Center as of 11/6/2019.

  • Miami Valley Hospital South achieved provisional status as a Level III Trauma Center as of 11/7/2019.
  • University Hospitals Elyria Medical Center achieved provisional status as a Level III Trauma Center as of 11/21/2019.

  • Kettering Health Network – Greene Memorial Hospital will discontinue services as a Level III Trauma Center and will operate as an Acute Care Hospital effective 12/31/2019.
